Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a percentage of the selling price. Markup is profit as a percentage of your cost. A 50% markup on a $100 cost gives a $150 price, which is a 33.3% margin.
How do I price a product for a 40% margin?
Divide your cost by (1 minus 0.40). For a $60 cost, the price is $60 divided by 0.60, which is $100.
